Olympia stone villa with a fabulous sea view

Our villa was built of stone in a Cretan style. It is situated 200 metres above sea level in a quiet villa district on the outskirts of the village Prines, just a few minutes’ drive from the most beautiful town in Crete, Rethymnon. The village centre with tavernas, kafenions and little grocery shops are a few minutes’ walk away. You can enjoy the authentic Crete in the village, away from tourism, but still nearby. There are many holiday houses in Prines, but nevertheless it is dominated by a genuine Cretan atmosphere.

The villa with three bedrooms and two bathrooms has an attractive interior and tasteful furnishing. The unique atmosphere is enhanced by the solid stone structure. The villa offers a high standard of comfort and is also a cosy holiday destination in winter, owing to the heating. The open fireplace invites you to enjoy cosy evenings during the winter months, although the outdoor temperatures are still very pleasant during this time. A little library with books and a stereo system, satellite TV incl. around 50 German channels, a free Wi-Fi connection (protected by a password to prevent inappropriate use by children) are available. In recent years Villa Erato has gained many regular guests who keep returning.

You can enjoy a spectacular view from the terraces of the sea and the mountains and sunsets in the evening. The photos do not do justice to this fascinating view, which all guests are delighted by. The accommodation has a 40m² swimming pool with a kids’ pool. The terraces provide lovely garden furniture. There is a terrace on the ground floor providing direct access to the private swimming pool in the garden. There is a very large veranda on the upper floor, which can be accessed up outdoor or indoor stairs. This veranda affords a truly fabulous view of the sea and the White Mountains (2500m high and covered in snow from November to May. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset here in the evenings. The garden has a lawn.

Personal fitness trainer: we offer you a personal fitness programme. Enjoy the Cretan sun, the beach and the sea, the healthy Cretan diet and take part in sports, so that you return home to everyday life fit and relaxed, rather than with unnecessary additional kilos. As the owner of your holiday villa, I am an experienced triathlete (Iron Man finisher), an amateur cyclist and a marathon runner. Depending on your wishes, you receive a personal fitness programme, which can include cycling, running, swimming, weight training or massages and visits to the sauna. We look forward to your visit.

The house is ideal for families as well as small groups who would like to spend an active holiday in Crete, such as cyclists, hikers or triathletes. It is also ideal for cultural enthusiasts, as all areas of the island are within a day trip. There are beautiful beaches a few minutes away. The Olympia holiday villa was built on a 200-metre-high elevation with a truly fantastic view of the sea and the mountains. It is on the outskirts of the village with some other holiday houses, all built of natural stone. Undoubtedly the most beautiful residential location of the whole of Rethymnon town: a lovely view, very quiet, with the village centre just 500 metres away and Rethymnon just a few minutes’ drive away, as well as the beaches.

    “Ruhig gelegenes Steinhaus mit eigenem Garten und schönem Pool. Ausstattung gemütlich und ausreichend, es ist alles da was man braucht. Angenehm war der regelmässige Service von Garten, Pool und Haus während des Aufenthalts.
    Dazu sehr netter Kontakt zum Vermieter (wenn auch nur per Mail).
    Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.”

    “Wir waren in der Villa Olympia:
    Es war eine wunderschöne Villa. Die Innenausstattung ist comfortabel (nicht High-End, aber sehr angenehm). Es hatte eigentlich auch in der Küche alles was man so benötigt. Ein zu Beginn versäumtes Kinderbett wurde uns bei Anreise am gleichen Abend noch gebracht - sowie der (von den Vorherigen Mietern) zustörte Wasserkocher ausgetauscht - Das ist also absoluter Top-Service, solche Probleme in wenigen Stunden zu erledigen (und das in Griechenland, da läuft ja nicht immer alles so nach deutscher Pünktlichkeit :))
    Der Pool ist ein absolutes Highlight und der Ausblick vom ersten Obergeschoss war phänomenal.
    Die Hanglage der Strasse bedeutet natürlich, dass Personen mit eingeschränkter Geh-Fähigkeit eher Abstand von der Buchung hier nehmen sollten, ansonsten stellt es aber kein Problem dar.”

    “Det var et meget fint og rent hus. Ejeren var meget hjælpsom. Huset havde en dejlig solrig terrasse oppe på 1. sal. Dog var der ikke meget sol ved poolen, da der var for meget der skyggede. Sengene var dog alt alt for hårde. Det var som om der manglede en top/overmadras. Huset var også rummeligt og der var dejlig meget skabsplads på værelserne. Køkkenet var også veludstyret og funktionelt.”
