Country house in Cortona with a big garden, a private pool and cookery courses
The country house is in Cortona, in the Il Castagno area. The rurally located village is quiet, but not isolated.
The lush park surrounding the villa is on three levels. Cars can be parked on the lowest level. Stairs lead to the main entrance to the villa, with a furnished pergola in front of it overgrown with grapevines. On the top level there is the private pool, surrounded by sun loungers and parasols. It is in the midst of an olive grove and is ideal for relaxing, sunbathing and enjoying the view of the Val di Chiana. It is unmonitored, measures 5 x 10 metres and is open from May to September 8also dependent on the weather).
The stone country house from the 16th century has been carefully restored, preserving the old building style and original structure. It is decorated in an arte povera style, sleek and rustic, but comfortable. The house, whose relaxing atmosphere will envelope you straight away, is on three floors. The main entrance leads into the first floor with a spacious living room-kitchen. It features a rustic style and is very cosy. It provides a big fireplace, a sofa, a wooden dining table, a TV with satellite channels (no Pay TV) and a brick-built kitchen unit, which is well-equipped with a dishwasher, a gas stove, a microwave, a coffee machine, a fridge with a freezer compartment and a toaster. One bedroom has two single beds and a big bathroom with a bath. On the ground floor there is a bedroom with a double bed, a desk and a dresser, as well as a bathroom with a shower. The second floor has a bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. The double beds measure 160 x 190cm and the single beds 80 x 190cm. The apartment has air conditioning (cool/warm), while the bathroom only has heating. Free wireless Internet access is available.
The holiday house is on the edge of a small medieval village, inviting you to go for walks. The locals are very friendly. The centre of Cortona is just a ten-minute drive away. The nearest supermarket is just 2km away. There is a coin-operated launderette, belonging to the house owners, 4km away. Lago di Trasimeno is just 15km away. The most important art cities of central Italy are easy to get to: Montepulciano (30km), Arezzo (32km), Perugia (45km), Gubbio (65km), as well as Siena, Assisi (both 70km) and Florence (90km).
The owners offer cookery courses or individual lessons, where you can learn to prepare typical Tuscan dishes, as well as pasta, bread, game and even medieval dishes (prices to be specified locally, depending on the choice of course). Firewood is provided during the cool season. The first 100kg are free, further usage is payable.
