Holiday in the Thuringian Forest right by the Rennsteig

The climatic spa town Schmiedefeld is situated in the beautiful biosphere reserve of the Thuringian Forest by the Rennsteig at an altitude of around 650 metres above sea level. Our detached holiday complex is quietly situated on the outskirts amidst a great Mittelgebirge landscape. The Rennsteig – Germany’s most well-known altitude trail – runs past nearby. In the locality itself you can do grocery shopping. Facilities such as a big supermarket, a bakery and a butcher, as well as an ATM are available, for a carefree holiday.

The newly renovated 78m² three-room apartment is suitable for up to 4 people and is on the upper floor of our residential complex. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining corner, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a convection oven and ceramic hob, extractor fan, sink and dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, bread-cutting machine, cutlery and cooking utensils. The living room provides a sofa, armchair, coffee table and cupboard wall, flatscreen satellite TV and a radio/CD player. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed (180 x 200cm) and a wardrobe, the same as the second bedroom. The bathroom has a washbasin, toilet, shower, bath, illuminated cupboard with a mirror and cleaning utensils. Wi-Fi is available.

Our residential complex has a big fenced garden with a terrace, affording a wonderful panoramic view into the landscape of the Thuringian Forest and our climatic spa town. The terrace provides garden furniture and parasols. It is also possible to grill on charcoal. If you feel like sweating, our cabin sauna is recommended. It has a lava stone stove and is also especially suitable for older guests and children. The sauna can also be used as a Finnish sauna (98°C).Hinweis für Raucher:

Note for smokers: smoking is not permitted in the apartments and throughout the residential complex, but there is a smokers’ area. Thank you for your understanding.

Our residential complex is accessed along Schmückestrasse. You can go on many hikes nearby and further afield directly from the house. There are many trip destinations around Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig, offering a varied and leisurely holiday. There are over 100 attractions along the Thuringian Forest nature reserve route, starting with the Wartburg in Eisenach, as well as the German winter sports Mecca Oberhof with the DKB ski hall and the Sonneberg toy museum and Saalfelder Feengrotten. In winter you can find an extensive network of marked cross-country skiing trails and ski touring routes in the vicinity, as well as the Schmiedefeld winter world with Thüringen’s longest tow lift with floodlighting and a ski school.

    “Het is een heel ruim appartement. Alles was netjes en schoon. De inventaris van de keuken is heel compleet. De bedden slapen goed. Het enige minpuntje dat ik kan bedenken is dat er weinig daglicht in de woonkamer komt. Maar wij zaten meestal in de grote serre, dus dat was geen probleem. We hebben een goede vakantie gehad.”
