125 years after its construction and initial use as an olive mill, "1891" Home was fully renovated. Magnificent views at the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean sky makes it the holiday house everyone dreams of.
The house is located in the village of Kefalas at an altitude of 282 meters. Daily life in Kefalas impresses the visitor with its tranquil pace. The location of 1891 Home epitomizes restful relaxation with a magical view, yet a few minutes of walking through the village alleyways leads you to the types of services necessary for one’s vacation such as super markets, tavernas and traditional cafes. The village is 13km inland, from the National Road 94 (E75) that connects the whole island.
• The city of Chania is 33 km West, Chania international Airport is at 41 Km and Souda Bay Port Harbor is a distance of 25 Km.
• The distance to other important towns on the island is: 33 Km to Rethymnon, and 114 km to Iraklio.
• Numerous international flights connect all of Europe directly to Crete’s two International airports – Chania and Iraklio. There is daily ferry service to Piraeus - Athens from Souda Bay Port Harbor.
The hallway of the second floor leads to a 50m2 terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and stunning views of the White Mountains. It is the most private of all outdoor areas in the home and one of the most stunning.
The ground floor veranda is covered by wooden pergola and offers outdoor seating for dining and relaxing.
The veranda overlooks the private pool area and herb garden and in the distance the bay of Souda and Rethymno.
The 30m2. overflow pool is surrounded by wooden sun beds and deck chairs with stunning views of the area.
“1891"- Home, is a two storey villa, situated in Apokoronas- one of the seven Municipalities of the Prefecture of Chania and one of the most picturesque. Apokoronas covers a diverse area that reaches from the foothills of the White mountains to the sandy beaches and rocky shores on the northwest side of Crete.
The ground floor is part of the original stone olive mill built in 1891 with 4 vaulted arches supported by cypress beams. These traditional features have been restored to shape the open plan living space that combines kitchen, dining room for 6, living room with open fireplace and a sofa bed for two persons.
A half bath with shower has also been added to other more modern amenities.
The indoor design reflects the owner’s personal eclectic tastes. It combines original features such as stone oil Jars and troughs with turn of the century furniture and original artwork.
The second floor has two bedrooms and a full bathroom with wash basin and full bathtub.
Bedroom one, has full-size bed with wardrobe and second bedroom has 2 twin beds.
Two mini markets and 2 taverns can be found within walking distance from the house.
The area is known for its hiking - foot trails, gorges and some of the most popular sandy beaches, famous for sailing, water sports or just relaxing by the waterfront. There are many activities and choice of excursions that can be planned: visits to monasteries, hiking gorges, diving and water skiing lessons to trips to wineries, music festivals, spa activities or simply relaxing around your vacation home’s pool and garden.
