The mountains rise steeply behind the front of the houses, and in an exposed position high above the scene, Doria Castle is enthroned on a rocky plateau.
At first glance it is hardly recognizable, this very special house front.
The majority of the buildings were built directly on the rock.
The main street runs behind it parallel to the coast and can be reached from the harbor quay via several stair tunnels.
