“Bellagio is the pearl of Lago di Como”
Now it was finally also the turn of Bellagio and the atraveo prize for the best Italian holiday destination in 2013 was just received in time before the turn of the year.
Our customers know: Next to accommodations vacationers, which have booked a holiday apartment or house on atraveo, can also rate the holiday destination where they stayed. From all given ratings each year we determine the destination that was able to achieve on average the best number of reviews. After Riva del Garda and Venice in the previous years the trophy in 2013 went with an average of 4.71 points to Bellagio which is idyllically situated on a headland of Lake Como.
Next to good accommodations especially the beauty of the surrounding area around Lake Como, the third largest lake after Lake Garda and Lago Maggiore, will have contributed to Bellagio claiming this top position: Between high the towering mountains on both sides, Lake Como stretches at a length of 50 kilometres from north to south in the alpine landscape of North Italy and halfway splits into a left and right arm. Exactly at this point you will find Bellagio in a unique panoramic location and offers captivating views across the lake and surrounding landscape.
Splendid views are for example offered by this apartment for two people situated in the historical town centre of Bellagio.
Of course it is not just the great location which Bellagio is able to impress with. But the town itself with its old streets and pretty buildings is worth visiting. Furthermore, Bellagio is ideally situated for trips around Lake Como. For example it is not far to Como or Lecco and with a ship you can comfortably reach Menaggio on the other side of the lake. Also very popular are boat tours to the many villas along the lakeside where even the one or other celebrity lives.
The presentation of the prize took place last Monday in Bellagio. During a small ceremony Bianca Bontempo, Consultant for Product Development Italy, handed over the prize to Mayor Angelo Barindelli. Journalists and an interested audience watched the award ceremony with also Deputy-Mayor Luca Leoni and Angela Pagano representing the Province Como in attendance.

That you very much like Bellagio is also reflected in the comments that were made in addition to the rating. Here a small selection:
"Those looking for beauty and exuberance in Italy will be thrilled by Bellagio."
"We very much enjoyed this week in Bellagio. Shopping facilities, great restaurants close by as well as many options to go on trips. Every day we made use of the ship and had a look at villas or secluded places."
"Rustic, old, nice alleys with pedestrian zone, the apartment right in the middle of it and still quietly situated, many craft shops, restaurants, nice places and hiking options and the list goes on and on... – can be highly recommended! "
And our favourite that puts it in a nutshell:
"Bellagio is the pearl of Lago di Como ..."
The other prize winners of 2013 are by the way Berchtesgaden as best German and Egmond aan Zee as best Dutch holiday destination.
