Ancient fishing village with one of the strongest and most important tuna in the Mediterranean, the place attracts many tourists fascinated by its natural beauty and heat and resourcefulness of its people. Torretta Granitola summer is, in fact, rich in cultural, culinary and music events as the procession of the day of the Assumption, the blue-fish festival and the summer carnival.
In the territory of Torretta Granitola, two ancient observation towers stand. The first, called the “Torre di Mazara” is a shapeless tuff stone and has a cylindrical shape with a cone-shaped stand; the second, near to the sea, is called “Torre del Saurello” and is a lean construction, shaped like a truncated cone. Approximately one kilometer from the centre, on a rocky cape called Cape Granitola, the lighthouse stands.
Along a short stretch of road in the direction of Campobello di Mazara you can visit the Cusa Quarry, the most striking natural factory of building materials in the Greek period, from where they extracted the stone materials for the construction of the temples of Selinunte. Proceeding, however, on the coastal road in the direction of Mazara del Vallo you can discover the Gorghi Tondi, small stretches of water in a wide valley surrounded by low hills.
