When you stay in a holiday home you become part of the fabric of Venice, this once influential city which exuded wealth and power and made sure everyone knew it, from the fine palazzos along the Grand Canal to the magnificent churches and the famous lion of St. Mark.
Holidaying on water
Scenic gondola rides – try traghettos for shorter hops – are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the canals and bridges of Venice. Museums offer little information on these fascinating sites, so before you go, read about bridges and the battles of the fists that were fought upon them, about drowned heretics and spies, and of the merchants huddled round on the Rialto Bridge. Insights into politics, religion, music, and everyday life can be found across the city. Excursions from your holiday apartment
Venice controlled much of Northern I taly , also known as the Veneto, so look out for the lion of St. Mark in the charming cities of Padua and Verona. Ferry over to colourful Burano or make a fitting lion in the sands of the Lido out in the Venetian Lagoon.

Numerous artistic attractions are also close to our apartment, such as the Santa Maria Gloriosia dei Frari Church with the famous Assunta of Tiziano, and the Scuola Grande di San Rocco featuring Tintoretto's paintings. Walking 5 minutes you can easily reach the Ca' Pesaro museum of modern art or the Natural History Museum, recently restored.

Here's what's in the central Rialto district where the apartment is located: you can find everything you may need: there are bakeries, pharmacies, tobacconists, stationers, grocery stores and supermarkets; there are many pizzerias, renowned or popular restaurants, the so called typical “osterie” and "bàcari” meeting place for Venetians people where you can taste the specialties called "cicheti " all accompanied by local wine.
All around there are many shops and boutiques selling all kind of items, especially those regarding Venetian craftwork and the most famous fashion trademarks: it's a real pleasure to stroll and have shopping among the typical small and crowded Venetian streets.
